In Perspective, Top 5, Top 5, Top 5

This week started in May and ended in June, as usual though, we’ve picked out favourite new releases from the week. Spotify playlist at the jump.

1. Jay Prince ft. Amine – Vice

Jay Prince is very very underrated for a UK hip hop artist. This week he dropped ‘Late Summer’ on which our favourite track so far is ‘Vice’, add ‘Last Summer’ to that list.

2. PARTYNEXTDOOR – Rendezvous

PARTYNEXTDOOR has released a brand new project, COLOURS 2. The sequel to his 2014 EP COLOURS is a followup to his P3 project, which was released in 2016. The four-track EP is executive produced by OMO/Férina in-house producer G. Ry. An early standout for us so far is Rendezvous, a late night drive based ballad in which Party denounces his own wealth and that of his lover, in an ode to genuine love.

3. SZA – Broken Clocks

As we count down the days to SZA’s debut album ‘CTRL’ due 9 June, she has released the project’s third single ‘Broken Clocks’ following the widespread success of ‘Love Galore’ dropped in April featuring Travis Scott and ‘Drew Barrymore’ in January.

We are expecting big things from the first lady of TopDawgEntertainment and if ‘Broken Clocks’ and ‘Love Galore’ are anything to go by, we won’t be disappointed.

4. H.E.R – Lights On

In the same week that she was announced as a supporting act for Bryson Tiller and Metro Boomin’s US tour, H.E.R has released the third single ‘Light On’ off her much anticipated ‘H.E.R Volume 2’ EP. Keeping with the projects bedroom theme, ‘Lights On’ is a throwback to early Ashanti and Mya.

5. 2 Chainz ft. Travis Scott – 4am

‘Pretty Girls Like Trap Music’ is one of our most highly anticipated drops of the year so far. 2 Chainz has his lane and generally everything in it in recent times has banged. See ‘It’s A Vibe’, ‘Sacrifices’ and ‘Good Drank’. This week we were treated to another banger in the form of 4am featuring Travis Scott. We understand that the upcoming project due 16 June will feature Drake, Pharrell, Gucci Mane, Quavo, Nicki Minaj, Ty Dolla Sign, Trey Songz, Jhene Aiko and more.

Bonus Tracks

M.T. Hadley – Janet
